Bergen, Norway
Bergen and its spectacular harbor have tremendous meaning for our family.
My Grandfather was the world's largest exporter of ling cod, and his business was based in Bergen, Norway. Ling cod is used to make Lutefisk, a traditional dish of Norway and Sweden, and his biggest customer was located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. My Father spent the summer of 1949 with a customer's family in Minnesota, exploring Saint Paul and water-skiing on Prior Lake. At the end of the summer, he returned to Bergen and packed his bags. It only took one summer to fall in love with America, and so he returned to make his life there.
Bergen Acquisition and Transition Advisers is born of a similar story. After developing an education and career foundation in High Technology, Jan Mathiesen found that he excelled at various aspects of business administration, team building and identifying core strategies for preparing businesses for successful endeavors - whether the goal was increasing the bottom line or preparing for transition. Following his most recent tenure as CEO of Atrenne Integrated Solutions and his facilitation of their sale to Celestica, Jan retired and has spent his time exploring, much like his father before him. However, he soon realized that his affinity for and unique skills at helping businesses were calling him back to the field. Bergen Acquisition and Transition Advisers brings his processes, knowledge and experience to the consultancy arena for the purpose of assisting companies to prepare for sale, perform due diligence for firms seeking corporate acquisitions or helping companies to improve their operations and profitability.
